Rugby Stars Home Workout For Kids (#3)!

Check out our online class below, designed to get kids active and have fun along the way. You must follow our strict guideline at all times: FUN is the number 1 priority. Failure (to have fun) is not an option!

Warm up: 5 minutes stretching – repeat as needed.

  • Repeat 2 times: Touch your toes (don’t pick your nose), arms to the sky (show off those armpits)
  • 5 sumo squats (slap those thighs, practice the Hakka!)
  • 10 star jumps (in like a pencil, out like a star)
  • 20 seconds Fast Feet

Workout: Do 3 rounds of:

Tip: download a Tabata or timer app and set 9 intervals of 10 seconds!

  • 10-seconds star jumps
  • 10-seconds air squats
  • 10-seconds burpees
  • 10-seconds fast feet
  • 10-seconds squat jumps
  • 10-seconds 180-degree jumps
  • 10-seconds 360-degree jumps
  • 10-seconds air punches
  • 10-seconds second plank
  • Rest 30 seconds (this completes 1 round)

Ball skills

Remember the proper technique taught at class! Visit our ball skills page for a guide!
You can use any ball (it doesn’t have to be egg shaped!) or even rolled up socks.
Practice catching back and forth, for every successful catch, take a step back. For every drop, take a step forward!
Finish with a high-five.

Game 1 – Red Light, Green Light

We play this game in class all the time, and with enough room, this game can easily be played inside. One person is the traffic light at one end, and the other players are at the other end. When the traffic light faces the group, he or she says, “Red light!” and everyone must freeze. The traffic light then turns his or her back and says, “Green light!” while the players try to get as close to the traffic light as possible. The traffic light turns around quickly, again saying, “Red light!”, and if anyone is spotted moving, they have to go back to the starting place. The first person to tag the traffic light wins and gets to be the next traffic light. Number of Players: 2+. Equipment: None.

Game 2 – Shadow Tag

My children have loved playing this game since I can remember. There is something about stamping on shadows that makes them howl with laughter. In this fun version of Tag, you tag each other’s shadow with your feet instead of tagging their body. Thus, it must be played on a sunny day. The closer to noon, the greater the difficulty. Clouds overhead? Play regular tag!
Number of Players: 2+. Equipment: None.

Games 3 – Shoe Relay

What You’ll Need: 1 pair of shoes, or socks, and/or a hat

In this race, you’ll need to have everyone take off theirs shoe, socks and/or a hat and put it in a large pile a decent distance away from the starting point. Now, split players into teams and form relay lines. At the signal, players take turns running up to the pile, finding their shoe and running back to their own team’s line where they then put on the corresponding item they just collected. The first team with all its players wearing both shoes, both socks and the hat wins the game. Keep in mind, the players don’t have to wear their shoe as soon as they find it (this takes away the advantages players wearing slip-on shoes would have).

Game 4 – Rock, Paper, Scissors

Try this great version of R-P-S at home. Encourage your child to perform the shapes first, then see if they can play a game.
Count down each round and move into your shapes on the count of 3!
